About Legislate This! fundraising events:

The Legislate This! fundraising shows were started in Austin, TX by the Austin burlesque/circus performer Ginger Snaps in response to then-governor Rick Perry's passing of TRAP laws. Inspired by Wendy Davis's historic filibuster (which Ginger Snaps was in the Capitol for and part of the crowd singing "The Eyes of Texas"), she decided to fight back the best way she knew how: by using her performance talents to raise money.

After a successful Austin debut, Ginger Snaps turned Legislate This! Austin into an annual event, now in its seventh year of production. She has worked with performers to coordinate events across the nation. Legislate This! events have raised money for Planned Parenthoods across Texas as well as in North Carolina, Philadelphia, Colorado, and California.
