"How To Train Your Dragon" - Free Workshop On Self-Producing

 

Ever thought "I've got a great idea, let's put on a show?" Dragon Productions Theatre Company is hosting a "How To Train Your Dragon" workshop to artists who are interested in self-producing. This is a free event hosted by Dragon's Executive Artistic Director and Founder Meredith Hagedorn and Karen Altree Piemme, the Dragon's 2nd Stages Series Associate Producer and Director of the Red Ladder Theatre Company. 

 

The workshop is open to anyone who wants to know more about what it takes to self-produce an artistic event, and artists who attend a workshop are given extra consideration when applying for the 2018 2nd Stages Series. 

 

Wednesday, March 22nd from 7 - 8:30p.

 

This free workshop is being presented at the Dragon Theatre (2120 Broadway Street in downtown Redwood City) in the main stage area.

Lunch Time Yoga With Caro


Wednesdays (5/24, 6/21, 7/12, 8/23) 
 

Step away from your desk for an hour-long indulgent lunchtime yoga class on the stage of the Dragon Theatre. Improve your posture, alleviate your lower-back discomfort, find a moment of peace and quiet in the middle of your busy day. Caro will lead you through a gentle yoga sequence and a restorative guided meditation. A zen life is a happy life!
 

Caro started practicing yoga in 2008. She has spent many years teaching theatre, dance, yoga and movement. She is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor.  She finds that the best yoga practice is one that helps your body feel better. It's that simple. She enjoys helping her clients gain confidence, strength and balance.  She loves using her creativity to construct elegant and thoughtful sequences and meditations.  When she is not practicing yoga, Caro can be found reading a good book, tending her vegetable garden or off exploring hot springs.

Improv For Anyone! - CANCELLED

Our very popular Saturday morning Improv Class is back. This class welcomes everyone: those new to Improv, seasoned improvisers, actors who want to try this genre of theaterand all those in between who just want to have fun. Games are designed for everyone's enjoyment and growth.  Many techies, doctors, lawyers, couples, and homemakers find this class refreshing and fun and a way to unleash their creative talents and become more open and communicative.

 
Come give improv a try Saturday mornings at the Dragon Theatre. The classes begin Saturday, April 8th at 10am and run weekly for 6 weeks. 
 
This round of classes is taught by Corinne Kason, a professional actress who has worked in New York, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. She taught Improv for the Screen Actors Guild Conservatory in L.A. and S.F. and is currently teaching Improv at the San Carlos Charter Learning School.
 
WHEN: Saturday mornings from 10a - noon beginning Saturday, April 8th.
 
WHERE: The Dragon Theatre in downtown Redwood City (2120 Broadway Street) 
 
WHO: anyone aged 18 and up! There's a minimum requirement of 8 people for the class to be a "go." A maximum of 16 students accepted so register early to make sure you get a spot in this popular class! Registration closes at 5pm on Friday, April 7th.
 
HOW MUCH: $200 for the entire 6 weeks (about $33 a session) with an early bird discount of $175 if you register before March 25th.

Register for Improv for Everyone

Beginning Improv - 

Workshop Leader: Terry Sandke

The next Beginning Improv Class runs Tuesday evenings from March 28 through May 9. No experience required. Shy people are especially welcome!

Anyone can learn to improvise - it just takes practice. Basic improv skills can make you more comfortable in your own skin and increase your self-confidence. Work with a small group in a safe atmosphere that emphasizes PLAY. Surprise yourself by creating characters, stories, and scenes on the fly! Play with fun people who love to laugh! Learn basic skills all improvisers know.

Tuesday evening classes are taught by Terry Sandke, who has been teaching Improv at Dragon Productions since 2007. He is a founding member of the San Francisco Improv troupe, "Spontaneous Combustion" and has been improvising for 20 years - eleven with the BATS Improv Sunday Players in San Francisco.
 

HOW MUCH: $315 for the entire 7 weeks ($45 a session) with an early bird price of $280 if you register before March 22, 2017. Registration closes at 5pm on Monday, March 27.
 

WHEN:  Seven Tuesdays (7:00pm - 9:00pm), March 28 - May 9.

Intermediate Improv - 

Workshop Leader: Terry Sandke

Dragon Productions is offering a seven-session Intermediate Improv workshop starting on Wednesday, March 29.

Have fun.  Explore more improv.  Practice improvising stories. Use tools from earlier Improv classes.  Learn more about improvising stories and games.  Work with a small group in a safe atmosphere emphasizing PLAY.  Surprise yourself.  Create characters, stories, and scenes on the fly!  Play with fun people who love to laugh!  Attendees must have completed a Beginning Improv class.

Private Acting Lessons

 
Taught by Meredith Hagedorn (over 20 years experience), Executive Artistic Director of Dragon Productions Theatre Company. Meredith can assist you with audition preparation or just marketing yourself.  Serious, supportive approach. Rates: $70/hour. Email info (at) dragonproductions.net for questions and scheduling.
 
Max Koknar, Education Director, can work with you and help you improve your skills in public speaking and business presentations, audition prep (professional, community, college), character movement and physicality, mime, physical comedy, stage combat, improvisation and dialect work. He can also partner with actors of any level over the long term with regular sessions to develop self-awareness of their strengths and weaknesses and work together on improving your overall craft in a supportive and stimulating environment. 


Max can also provide consultation on things like play writing and script development, self-producing, marketing, personal branding, audience experience design (site specific/immersive/interactive plays and other live events). 

 

Where appropriate and more convenient for the client, it may be possible to arrange an online class via skype or similar service.
